Business Description

Naturopathic Doctor, Acupuncturist, in Austin Texas

Dr. Becky Andrews is a naturopathic doctor and acupuncturist in Austin, Texas who specializes in solving health mysteries that often overlay chronic or complex health issues.  As a naturopathic doctor, Dr. Becky combines western medical knowledge with the naturopathic philosophy of "find and treat the cause".  As a naturopath, she uses tools such as diet change, targeted nutritional supplements, and herbs to help to not only reduce symptoms, but to correct the imbalances that cause symptoms. She often spends over an hour with her patients so that she can get the complete picture of a health history and act as a detective, finding the combination of causes that has led to her patient's current health issues.

In the past 10 years, Dr. Becky has done extensive work with genomics (subtle changes in genes that can affect health).  This began with discovery of MTHFr gene mutations, and has expanded exponentially into working with genes that affect anxiety, depression, focus, fatigue, detox, immune balance, digestion and more.  Assessing genomics allows for extremely specific nutrient supplementation to optimize and correct biochemical systems that may be out of balance and causing health issues.

Dr. Becky employs the amazing power of acupuncture to enhance all of the naturopathic therapies she offers.  Acupuncture can give immediate relief for pain, headaches, anxiety, allergies, fatigue and digestive problems.  This makes patients more comfortable, energetic and hopeful, which gives them more bandwidth to engage in the dietary and lifestyle changes often required to fully resolve chronic issues.

Clients often come seeking help with issues involving: chronic inflammation, chronic fatigue, autoimmune, hormones, pain, injuries, anxiety, depression, addiction, ADD or other memory / focus issues. Also common are digestive issues such as IBS, parasites, yeast or leaky gut.  Dr. Becky has extensive training in environmental medicine and is able to help people with chemical sensitivity, detox, chelation, exposure to toxic chemicals, heavy metals, or toxic mold/ mold illness.  This may seem like a wide variety of unrelated issues, but to a naturopathic doctor or acupuncturist they are all connected.

Dr. Becky also has a passion for teaching.  She has been a professor in several graduate level health care programs, she teaches seminars and gives community talks on a wide variety of health topics. Dr. Becky has begun to offer online educational materials, both downloadable health guides and online courses. Learn with Dr. Becky

Naturopathic doctors are not nearly as common as other types of doctors so I often find I need to explain in detail what a naturopath is, and what we do.
